Driving and Parking Information

From the Train Station in Nice

Go to the Promenade des Anglais, the street bordering the water. Turn right when you get to the water. You go quite a while before you pass the airport, which will be on your left. Immediately past the airport, take the first right to A8/Cannes. Stay in the right lane and follow the next sign to A8/Cannes. Follow this direction until you come to Exit 48 to Cagnes sur Mer/Vence. This takes you to a toll both. You need euro coins or you will need to go to the booth marked “Tout Autre” which will make change. Go through the tollbooth and follow the signs to Vence (D36); be careful of the roundabouts since people enter and exit quickly. If you miss the turnoff, just take your time and go around the roundabout again until you get over to your exit.

From the Nice Cote d’Azur Airport

As you exit go in the direction of Sophia Antipolis or Cannes. Once you are out of the airport, immediately take the first right to A8. In Vence

Once you get into Vence, I suggest you park your car at the parking lot in the Grand Jardin. Then locate the building before re-parking. To do this, find the Tabac, look to your left and you will see a huge tree. Proceed in that direction down the hill (past the Emile Hughes Foundation and the Auberge des Seigners). At the bottom of the hill, you will see the Matisse Centre Culturale. My building is the next building down the hill. The name Les Remparts is on the building wall, however sometimes trees obscure this. You will see an entry gate. From here, you can go back up the hill and drive around the wall of the city  down the hill or to the parking lot.

To Park

Do not hug the wall of the city. Rather go down the main street that curves. At the point where the street curves to the right, you go straight ahead into the small parking area on the Traverse des Moulin. This parking area holds three cars and you use a key to lower the entry bar. The key fits on the center bar of the gate. It is located about 1/3 of the way down on the side of the center bar.

If you have trouble finding Les Remparts, please call Ruth for assistance.
